Oakland’s Spring Cleanup will occur on Saturday, June 4 and Saturday, June 11. Place items curbside prior to 8 a.m. for collection.

Apopka Vineland Road Resurfacing

REMINDER: Road Resurfacing Notice. Orange County Public Works will begin a road resurfacing project along a portion of Apopka Vineland Road on Thursday, April 14. Crews will be performing hot-in-place asphalt recycling along Apopka Vineland Road between Sand Lake Road and Farley Street south of the intersection with Conroy Windermere Road. Lane closures include:

🚧 Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
🚧 Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The project is scheduled to take approximately 10 weeks with an estimated completion date of June 24. For more info, call 407-836-3111.

429 Project

Construction Begins on SR 429. On Monday, April 11, the Central Florida Expressway Authority begins construction on SR 429/Daniel Webster Western Beltway from West Road to SR 414. Daytime work is scheduled from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. Night work is scheduled from 8:30 p.m. through 6 a.m.

Celebration Among the Oaks

Celebration Among the Oaks spring festival returns to Oakland with helicopter Easter egg drop; new family experiences

OAKLAND, FL — The Town of Oakland’s Celebration Among the Oaks event is returning to bring the community together for a springtime festival with exciting new experiences.

Now with an expanded footprint throughout the Historic Downtown area from VanderLey Park to the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center, families are invited to enjoy a spectacular helicopter Easter Egg drop, photos with the Easter bunny, petting zoo, interactive kids’ activities, live music and more!

The event, to be held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, will offer guests the opportunity to:

  • Watch over 10,000 eggs drop from the sky by helicopter during an egg hunt hosted by The Lakeside Church.
  • Play, chase and pop a continuous stream of bubbles at The Bubble Bus.
  • Visit the Easter Bunny in Oakland’s Gazebo with a fresh floral backdrop by Farm Nine.
  • Get up close to springtime animals at the Petting Zoo featuring bunnies, baby chicks and goats.
  • Enjoy StoryWalk, in partnership with the Orange County Public Library System, who presents “Planting a Rainbow” by Lois Ehlert along the West Orange Trail.
  • Listen to live music on the Center porch, presented by HAPCO Music Foundation.
  • Learn how to prune herbs and discover the environmental benefits of pollinators at Westly’s Herb Garden courtesy of The Bloom & Grow Society.
  • Discover the rich history of Oakland by exploring the new Est. 1887 exhibition, a combination of local art and history delving into the founding of the Town.

Reminder Parking Violations

Reminder of the rules regarding parking violations that will result in having your vehicle towed.

The basic parking rules are as follows:

  • No street parking from 1:00am to 6:00am
  • No parking at the gate lots
  • No parking on ANY grass in our community (Common and/or Private Property).
  • No parking on or blocking the sidewalk (Orange County Ordinance 85-1)
  • No parking at the dock as the area is for active loading and unloading only

Dock Repairs

Update on the dock repairs.
The dock repair project will begin tomorrow December 15. 2021.
A dumpster will be delivered tomorrow and the repair company will start with the demo work.
Wood for the repairs will be delivered this week.
The dock repair is expected to take about three weeks weather permitting.
The dock will be opened once the repairs have been inspected and the dock deemed safe for use.

Residents can register for a new 3 digit code system by completing the Gate Code and Directory Entry Request Form
All residents have until November 15, 2021 to register for a gate dial in code.

Resident Vehicle ID Clings

Vehicles belonging to residents of the John’s Landing community will be required to display a Resident Vehicle ID cling on the bottom drivers side corner of the windshield. Not displaying a resident ID cling could result in your vehicle being towed when parked in community areas.

All residents have until November 15, 2021 to request Resident Vehicle ID clings.

Gate Remotes

Existing gate remotes will work as before.
Residents can request Gate Remotes at a cost of $28.00 each by completing the Gate Remote Request Form.
