2025 Holiday Schedule

Memorial Day—Unincorporated Orange County residents will receive services on schedule. All other customers will not be serviced on Memorial Day and will experience a one-day delay.

July 4th – No service interruptions. Services will run on schedule.

Labor Day – Unincorporated Orange County residents will receive services on schedule. All other customers will not be serviced on Labor Day and will experience a one-day delay.

Thanksgiving Day—Due to the holiday, there will be no service. Those who receive service once per week will receive service on a one-day delay. Those who receive service twice per week will receive service on their next regular service day.

Christmas Day– Due to the holiday, there will be no service. Those who receive service twice per week will receive service on their next regular service day. Additional changes are listed below.

Maitland – The make-up days for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (yard waste only) are Saturday, December 29, 2025, and Saturday, January 5, 2026.
Eatonville – The make-up day for Christmas Day is Thursday January 1, 2026.
Winter Park – The make-up day for Christmas Day is Thursday, January 1, 2026.
The City of Windermere – The make-up day for Christmas Day (yard waste only) is Saturday December 29, 2025.
New Year’s Day– No service interruptions. Service will run as usual.

The Town of Oakland recently partnered with Waste Pro for waste collection services from February 1, 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions for New Service

When will my trash can be delivered?

Trash cans will start to be delivered on Saturday January 25 and the 7-10 days after. The new cans will be sealed and should not be used until the 1st designated pickup date (2/4 or 2/7). The new service with Waste Pro does not take effect until after February 1st.

Where can I recycle my old trash can?

Old trash cans and green recycle totes can be used for yard debris collection, or can be recycled by dropping off at 205 E Gulley. Ave. They should not be used For trash collection after Feb 1, unless you have not received the new Waste Pro, Oakland branded, Cart.

What is my collection day?

Garbage Collection is picked up on Tuesdays OR Fridays. Please see the map below to determine your day of the week.

  • Garbage Collection is picked up on Friday.
  • Recycling is picked up on Thursday.
  • Yard Waste is picked up on Wednesdays.

Please place all items on the curb by 7:00 a.m. for pickup.

If your collection day falls on one of these holidays, your collection service will be moved to the following Saturday.

Bulk Pick-up Information:

Important Changes to Trash Collection in Oakland

Effective February 1, 2025, Trash Collection will change to once-a-week pick-up.
Waste Pro will be the new waste and recycling collection provider in the Town of Oakland.
Residents will receive one 96-gallon garbage and one 96-gallon recycling can, unless a smaller can is requested. To request a smaller can, please visit Waste Pro’s Website.

  • Zone 2: Friday

Yard Waste

  • Wednesday – Placed in bags or your own can.

Bulk Pick-up

  • Same as trash day. Residents will need to call Public Works to arrange pick-up.

What do I do with my old can?

There are many options! Old cans can be used for yard waste, recycled, or labeled as trash and thrown away.
